Sometimes it can feel as if we’re trapped in the circle of sameness, racing ’round the ole’ hamster wheel of life.

This morning I was reminded that if it feels like you’re stuck in a rut, the best thing to do is “something different!!!” Anything will get the ball rolling.!

Drive a different way to work, put your clothes on in a different order, eat at a new restaurant, in other words, change your “routine”. Routines are simply habits and a habit is something done often hence easily.

While it is true that sometimes sudden, rapid change on a BIG scale is called for, time and time again I’ve see that making a small commitment will lead you to larger commitments.

So if you think you need some change in your life,  commit today to change a routine, no matter how small and be prepared to be amazed!

Since I began to use self hypnosis regularly, I’ve noticed that I’ve remained relatively healthy even during the peak cold and flu season. My experience shows that it has helped me to eliminate at best, or at worst, minimize the effects of these perennial visitors. The best part is, you can learn to do it too!!

It seems as if the Swine Flu is everywhere on the news and in conversation so I want to remind you that more you listen to and see any communication, the greater the chance the suggestions that communication may be giving you has of lodging in your subconscious mind. Why is this? Remember:

Suggestion => Idea/Belief => Emotion => Action/Behavior => Result

In all cases, it’s best to suggest to yourself the state of having what you want, and to saturate your subconscious mind with those thoughts. So if you “Don’t want to be sick”, focus on already being “healthy”.

DO IT YOURSELF. If you have my course “Automatic Success Attractor”, follow the routine you’ve learned to put yourself into self hypnosis. If not, use these simple instructions: Sit or lay back and make yourself comfortable. Close your eyes and take in three deep breaths through your nose, exhaling slowly through your mouth each time. Imagine all the muscles in your body relaxing, one at a time, starting from your toes all the way up to your head. Then slowly count backwards from 10 to 1.

Now imagine yourself completely surrounded by a bright white God light, and start to give yourself suggestions: “I am surrounded in a white God light and fully protected from all things seen and unseen, all forces and all elements. My immune-system is operating at a peak level, fully protecting me. I now focus the power of my all-powerful mind upon maintaining a healthy body. I have a strong, balanced immune system. The healing light within nourishes my body and mind. I find it easy to adhere to a diet and lifestyle that supports a healthy body and mind. I experience a sense of security and express a positive outlook which helps to maintain a healthy body. I am balanced and harmonious, and everyday in every way I become a little healthier. And these suggestions have been communicated to every level of my body and mind … and so it is.”

Add additional suggestions but make sure they phrased in a positive way as if you already had what you desire. At the end of the session, count yourself up from one to five and say, “Wide awake. Wide awake.”

When the world comes crashing down around you, my recommendation is that you create your own rescue plan! Create your own “bailout” instead of waiting around for the government or anyone else to do it for you!

Maybe you’re thinking, “but I’m scared Doug!”

Well friend, you’re not alone! And yet one of the most understood things about fear, as is the case with most things, is that there are two sides to every situation! Fear serves you as a natural protection measure, and at the same time, fear can make you a prisoner if you let it.

Working with clients (and myself too!) there comes a point when you just have to decide that today is the day I choose to control how I respond to life and therefore create my own experience of it and ignore the external influences.

Remember that emotions like fear, anger and frustration,  are  your subconscious minds way of yelling at you and saying “Hey!!! Pay attention!!!!”

And instead of doing something about it, too many people give into the fear, turn inside and try to ignore the external world! You’ve seen them, maybe in the mirror!

So what can you do about it?

Remember, you get to choose what you focus on. Will you choose to focus on what you can control, or things you have no control over? Will you focus on the past and what you don’t have or choose to decide what you want and focus on that?

I suggest the first thing you do is to simply take charge of what you allow into your mind! Remember that as you think so you become! You will become what you put into your mind and what you allow others to put there…shut off the news…cancel the paper…whatever it takes.

The next thing to do is to get MOVING!!! Changing your physical state will do wonders for you! My good friend Harold “Bubba” Malloy has been instrumental at helping me and many others understand how important it is to move the body and how the mind and body are connected together. Change one, you’ll change the other!

Others have been there too, you don’t have to go it alone.

In a nut shell

1.       Decide right now. ” I’ve had enough!”

2.      Decide what you want – and – change what you’re doing!

3.      Take Charge! Utilize the circumstances of your life instead of tolerating them!

4.      Find a proven plan to get you where you want to go and..

5.       Get Moving! Take action until you succeed!

Knowing What You DON’T Want Is A Great Starting Point to Getting What You Want

When things are not as good as you’d like, the first thing to do is get clear about what you don’t like…

Let me explain.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, one of the most important lessons I help my clients learn is to focus on what they want. I think that should be clear by now!!!

The best way to do that is be clear about the things you don’t want in your life and business, so sit down NOW and create a list of everything you don’t want. You heard me, do it, now.

Once you’ve completed that list, look at each item on the list and decide if this is what I DON’T want, then what is it I DO want? Take your time and really get into it for each item on your list.

So how does this work?

We did this in the previous home we lived in and in the process, created the shopping list for the home we are living in now. And that home found US when we weren’t even looking for it.

But that’s a story for another day…

In the previous post we talked about the incredible power of your subconscious mind, aka Automatic Success Attractor, to show you where you are putting your attention. Remember “you find what you’re looking for” and “what you focus on expands”.

I’m sure some of you are feeling frustrated over the economic challenges the world is facing at the moment. You may be experiencing some of the effects firsthand.

Maybe you have experienced loss of income or business. You’re not alone. Many businesses are have lost customers due to the slowing economy. Maybe you feel spooked and are unsure of what is going to happen and you might even be thinking, “what the &^*^% Doug! Are you saying I caused this? Are you saying I brought this on by my thoughts? Go pound sand dude!!”

No that’s not what I’m saying.

I am saying that now is the time to decide what you are made of!!! What are you going to focus on RIGHT NOW? Will you choose to whine about how unfair things are and thereby choose by default to be a victim or will you instead choose to be a victor and focus on what you want???!!!

Become Responsible

The “cold hard truth” is that you have no control over the outside world, and yet you do have complete and total control over your own thoughts and actions, therefore you have complete and total control over how you choose to react and responds to outside events.

Let me say that again: You are NOT responsible for external events in the world and the things that “happen” to you, you are however responsible for how you respond. Only you can decide to not take what is going on in the world personally and instead to refocus your energy on the fact that you now choose to be 100% responsible for the results you get in life based on 2 simple things: what you choose to focus on coupled with the actions you take.

Remember, taking an action gets you closer to where you want to be! Of course, not everything you do will work out just the way you want it to, just remember that on an average trip, an airliner is off course most of the time.

The pilot must use the feedback coming in from the instruments to get the plane back on course. That feedback about being off course can be looked as being very helpful and good information to have, -or-, it can be looked at a “failure” or “mistakes” – it depends on what you choose to focus on.

Knowing what doesn’t work is just as important as knowing what does!!!

You must decide right now that you’re ok with knowing another way that doesn’t get you  the result you were looking for! Decide right now to be open minded about new ways to live your life, new ways to do business, and if need be, new ways to reinvent yourself!

In the long run, tough times will force you to do things you know you should have done a long time ago but were just too “fat, dumb and happy” to bother with. (As the saying goes of course)

Perhaps you’re saying “But Doug, this sucks. I don’t like it.” Friend, you don’t have to like it, you just have to deal with it! What goes up will come down. It’s not personal; it’s just the way it is. You can’t argue or fool mother nature! Yet there is something you CAN do about it….

You Find What You’re Looking For

Have you ever heard the sayings “you will find what you’re looking for” or “you will eventually receive what you think about most?”

You know what I mean.  It’s like before you bought a new car, you never noticed that vehicle, yet the day after you bought it, that model seems to be everywhere?

The same thing holds true for your personal health, wealth and happiness. When you focus on the sickness, you’ll get more sickness. When you focus on the doom and gloom that the media is pushing, then that is what you will find everywhere you look.  If you focus on being miserable, you’ll become that person walking around with the cloud over their head.

Instead, why not choose to focus on what you really want?

Choose to focus your mental energy on the health, happiness and prosperity you want and you’ll see opportunities everywhere!

Just determine what you want, set a course and then take action! When you focus on what you want, and where you’re going like a laser, you will reach your goals faster because of the concentrated energy you send toward those goals.

Listen. Your future is NOT a matter of random occurrence, unless of course you decide to leave it up to chance by doing nothing. You are responsible for creating your future by the choices you make and what you choose to focus on and the actions you take TODAY.

What You Focus On Expands

There is a universal law, (like gravity), it says that “what you focus on expands.” Seems simple enough, yet, judging by the results (or lack of) some people get, they never learned this powerful truth.

Most people simply allow the outside world to determine their inside attitudes! They look around; listen to what the pundits and talking heads tell them and simply accept as true whatever they’re spoon fed over and over and over.

The reverse then becomes true, because if you find what you’re looking for and if what you focus on expands, your outside world becomes a mirror for those exact same thoughts and feelings you are experiencing inside.

Pay close attention to what I’m about to say: You have NO control over external events, however you do have complete and total control over what you choose to focus on.

Simply by changing how you think and what you think about, you can change your entire world. You can change your physical and mental state using just the incredible power of your mind!

So what are you choosing to focus on? Just look at what is showing up in your life and you’ll find out! Don’t like what’s showing up? Then snap out of the trance you have been walking around in, become aware of how you are creating your “reality”, accept that your life is now the way it is because you created it that way, and start focusing right now on what you want, and where you want to go.

Because you’re reading this, it’s probably a safe bet that you want great health, happiness and prosperity in your life, so focus on those things! Learn to focus on what you WANT, not on what you don’t want or whatever outside conditions may exist right now.

So the trip to look at the property went great, we even took the Sellers up for a spin around their area and over their private home, they loved it!!!

The best part for me was the ability to get into our own plane, and to come and go on our schedule. And no cattle chutes and security lines!!! Yoo Hoo!!!

Here’s how the landing went:

I am in Tampa today and tomorrow morning…and I’m surrounded by some incredibly talented speakers and trainers! The energy level is amazing and the spirit of sharing is alive and well!!!

The best thing you can do for yourself is to make sure you align yourself with a group of like minded individuals, surround yourself with them and GET ACTIVE!!!

Take action today, find your allies, make something happen and remember to be humble….check your ego and that part of you that says “I know that” at the door

Today I met a man who is in a business that I’ve been in for the last 15 years…(Mobile Home Parks)…he’s just been at it a LOT longer than I have.  While he runs his business ALOT differently than I do, what he does accomplishes several things:

1. It works for his local market conditions

2. It serves his needs because he BUILT it to serve his needs!

Rather than dismiss what he’s doing as “wrong”, I chose to learn how to look at different possibilities and why he’s doing what he’s doing. As a result, I got to see how a successful business adapts to survive and thrive!

Whenever you catch yourself thinking or saying, “well that’s not how I do things”, stop!

You may just be wasting a great opportunity to learn something.

For me it’s “stuff”.

Some stuff can be distracting. As I look around my office I see that I have many things that have the ability to distract me. Lot’s of books, notebooks, do-dads and gadgets. Great ideas that started yet another unfinished project and causing an open loop that must be closed to free up the energy waiting to finish it to work on something else.

Another thing that can be very distracting is technology. For example, this blog. It uses some great software called WordPress. There’s another piece of software called a plugin that i want to use to post my blog posts on my Facebook page. But it needs PHP 5 and my hosting package defaults to PHP4 and there is work to be done tell it to use PHP5. Work I have no desire to learn how to do and work I must wait on others to do for me.

I find that distracting!
